The more is definitely merrier for Bottega Veneta when it comes to the brand’s triumphant return to fragrance. The Italian fashion house just released five new perfumes into the world and they are the epitome of olfactory luxury.
Each scent is a homage to the city of Venice (Bottega Veneta’s homeland) and the iconic leather that made the company so incredibly famous. When it comes the formulations, they are made from 100 percent natural origin essences that helm “from different corners of the globe into evocative perfumes that captivate the senses and transport the imagination,” the official press release explains.
The Italian fashion house’s foray into fragrance was only 13 years ago in 2011 and offered a string of scents up until 2021 when production abruptly stopped. This reemergence into the perfume category is an exciting one and the first under Bottega Veneta creative director Matthieu Blazy—all while being crafted by in-house perfumers.
Here’s a quick rundown of the collection…
Colpo di Sole: Warm as the Mediterranean sun, this scent marries the tranquil notes of French Angelica oil with sensual orange blossom absolute from Morocco.
Come With Me: Fresh and elegant, this one blends the invigorating citrus of Italian bergamot with the powdery violet of French orris butter.
Acqua Sale: This fragrance merges woody labdanum absolute from Spain with Macedonian juniper oil to evoke the enveloping scent of saltwater on skin.
Déjà Minuit: Sophisticated and seductive, this scent weaves geranium from Madagascar with the spice of Guatemalan cardamom.
Alchemie: Marries Brazilian pink pepper with precious myrrh from Somalia in an encounter of exhilarating opulence.
I had the opportunity to preview all the scents at a press event back in May and was sworn to secrecy until now. The storytelling for each perfume is impressive, to say the least. And to be honest, I was totally hooked the second I saw the bottles.
I’m partial to dope packaging (who isn’t?) and this collection hits it out of the park. The hefty glass vessels are all handblown—making each individual bottle completely one of a kind. In addition, each bottle comes with a green Verde Saint Denis marble pedestal to sit upon. It’s the type of attention to detail and luxury that can justify the lofty $450 retail price per bottle.
Thoughtful combinations of top, middle, and base notes are going to make this collection a must-have for perfume enthusiasts and anyone looking for something extra special. So far, my favorite juices are Colpo di Sole and Come With Me. I’d say they are definitely worth the splurge if you’ve got the coins to spend and will be an ultra-chic addition to your fall fragrance wish list.
